Yes, the CPU is desktop and RAM and GPU are mobile
Thanks for the answer
Is there a reason why they're sticking with mobile RAM and GPU? Is it part of some Eco power saving strategy, or is there a different reason?

I've spent the past 8 hours playing this (I can't believe how fast time flew! I thought maybe 3 hours at the most!) Its an EXCELLENT game so far. I'm pretty sure I'm almost finished with it. The puzzles are a step up difficulty wise and the game splits into many different areas. The game is much longer than the first one.

Will pirates be able to use this technology? I'm not sure how successful the eye tracking will be when using an eye patch.
Arrr, the beauty of this is that it works for people who only have vision in one eye - Google "Wiggle Stereoscopy". Presumably it be head tracking rather than eye tracking.
But will me hook get caught on the objects when I try and drag the screen?

One can always hope. But when has this ever NOT been true for a Microsoft operating system? Windows 95 ran poorly on computers released when 3.1 was out. Windows XP had compatibility issues with many Win 98 boxes. Etc, etc. This has always been true for them. The only difference now is how long XP has been out without being significantly updated.
Yep...and when has a new Windows OS that has issues with older hardware not prevented people from buying/upgrading to a new PC in order to run the new Windows...

I just had my 5G iPod replaced about a month ago. This iPod is one of the newer iPods that just came out.
I have followed the Apple instructions to not use the equalizer, low light resolution, and try not to manuever the menus too much while playing the video, and that is what gets me to about 1:45 minutes.
I use my iPod daily (M-F), and I charge it daily (M-F). I think the high usage is also the reason why my battery life is so low.
But isn't the iPod made for this type of usage???
Your battery should last at least a year or so with that usage (my 3g did), 1:45 is too low (sounds like my 5G iPod) you should send it back to Apple, btw what's the audio battery life like?

What does this mean?
Do you honestly foresee a war so catastrophic that it would wipe out the world's largest trading partner, 5% of the population, and the second oldest written Constitution?
If America has been stubborn enough to survive a civil war continuous social conflict, and the metric system, it isn't going anywhere.
Thanks for so clearly demonstrating what I pointed out in another thread:
Amazing that so many in this country still have NO IDEA about what exactly made us different, what made us special, what made us the place for millions upon millions of legal immigrants to stream here after our founding. This is why conservatives feel that many liberals hate this country... When you ask liberals if they hate the country, they think of the people, and they think of the land, and they think "hell now, how dare you say I hate my country!" and it's true, they don't hate those things, they love them. However, these aren't the things that make America what it is. It isn't about land, it isn't about geography, it's about principles, it's about political philosophy. What made America different was the focus on the individual. The country was founded around individuals, individual responsibility, individual entrepreneurship, individual opportunity, individual liberty. It wasn't about big redistributive government, it wasn't about handouts and bailouts, it wasn't about pitting one group vs. another whether based on race or on social standing. Conservatives think Liberals hate America because their views are so often diametrically opposed to the foundational views the country was founded on. You can't be an advocate for personal liberty and for big-government at the same time. The two ideas stand at odds. You be an advocate for individual responsibility and advocate for an ever-expanding entitlement system which threatens to undercut the very fiscal foundation of the country at the same time. You can't be an advocate for individual opportunity and for rights based on groups at the same time. The two ideas stand at odds.
Slavery is a phenomenon that could never be born out of a country that actually valued individuals and individual liberty, that knew all men were endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights. To blame slavery on small government is a joke, it takes big government which controls its populous and doesn't defend basic human liberties.
America is not a bunch of people, it's not a defined by geography. What makes America, America, is a set of ideals, philosophies based around individual liberty and small limited government. Glocke is likely right that some day America as we know it will be gone, over run by people's constant desire to have other people provide for them and for the misguided efforts of those who consider themselves as protectors of the weak. The very people mentioned in my signature.

In a number of the seminar descriptions, they speak about the "awesome power" of the "Power Mac G5 Quad" (which is true), and they keep calling it "new" on more than one occasion (it's close to a year old now).
I know what you are talking about. That video has been around since the Quad came out, they'll take it off once it's replacement comes. They aren't going to re-shoot the seminar videos and say the "1 year old Quad" or change the description. In the next few weeks, pending a Mac Pro release, we will see some new seminar descriptions talking about our Quad Intel Mac Pro's.

First I wasnted to thank everyone who has posted advice and comments about my temple surface piercing.
So with the help of the advice from the people in this forum, regaurding finding a new piercer and swap out the bananabell for a surface bar for my anti-brow temple piercing.
I did a little research about surface piercing and what causes them to fail
(which I should have done first before getting pierced, but anyways)
I noticed today that my piercing wasnt exactly happy, a bit tight, so I went down to a more local piercer in Mountain View, CA at Fatty Zone to get a check up to make sure everything was fine. The piercer was out for the till Monday, but the owner said that it looked as if the lower ball was starting to get sucked in. (great) He recommended that I go down to Pierce Ink, where he had sent his piercer (From Fatty Zone) to get trained.>>(Seperate Note) I had stopped in earlier that week and talked to the piercer about piercing my webbing, he said no, and took the time to explain to me why he would not pierce it and why it isnt a good area to pierce. For him to say no, refuse my money, and inform me, I am very grateful for.
I went down to Pierce Ink in San Jose CA, as I pulled up everyone was having a smoke, and we chatted a bit about my piercing, surface bars, gauge, and Zebra Tattoo and Piercing.
As it turns out I was the third person that week that had a surface piercing done at Zebra and came down to have their piercing salvaged because Zebra used the wrong jewelry. I also heard horror stories reguarding botched tounge piercings (personal horror story of one of the piercers who had it done at Zebra) , cleanliness issues etc. Anyways, I got the bananabell swapped out of a surface bar with discs.
http://homepage.mac.com/neildmitchell/Piercing_Update.jpg
The piercer(s) were very helpful, knowledgeabe, and professional, they too will also refuse to pierce certain areas.
So anyways, I salvaged an almost botched surface piercing. I still have a long healing process, so we will see if it gets rejected eventually or not.
1) Dont get pierced on a whim, from any old place, do your research (jewelery, techniques, reputation)
2) If a piercer tells you NO and explains why, trust them, dont go running off to a piercer who will pierce you where others wont.
3) Slam bad piercers or piercing businesses
4) Promote the Good Piercers
Save people from getting bad pierce jobs (or worse), and keep good piercers employed.

For all past events, the streams were posted much later in the day and no link existed until then. This is different. It has to be a live stream because that's the only way Steve could skip the trip to Paris. On top of that, I don't want to spend my $6 for airport wi-fi for nothing.
agreed. and I think the whole live and transporting Steve from North America to Europe all in real time live live live is the point of it all anyway.
And tomorrow you'll be able to do the same thing from your comfy couch. just $1499.

I'm glad they've added OpenCL support so that I can transition my hardware over slowly instead of plunking down for Resolve+2 nVidia cards right away.
Might want to hold off on that plan.
CreativeCOW (http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/277/5507)
Hi all, when we release 8.0 in June we will have an updated config guide and a number of these questions will be clearer then.
OpenCL is GPU based, not cpu, and in the iMac and Macbook Pro configs we demonstrated at NAB we used the one on-board ATI GPU. If you are building a MacPro, you can continue to use the ATI cards BMD have previously identified for the UI GPU, but for image processing the Nvidia Quadro 4000 with CUDA is still the performance GPU for image processing.
The NR is only available on CUDA so its likely users will want at least one CUDA GPU for the image processing to get this amazing feature.
Peter
While I see all these complaints Apple is not into Pro software & Machines, I think this is a good decision by Apple to compete in the professional market.
It is a good business decision by Apple but, at least at first blush, it looks like Apple is expanding by going down instead of up and that's part of the source of concern and disappointment from many current users.

Leopard will be awhile, likely spring 2007 as has been previously posted. Remember, we're only at 10.4.8 and there's room for one more upgrade before the new OS comes out ;)
Apple doesn't have to worry about meeting the Vista timeline. For one thing, Vista hasn't met a deadline yet on time. For another, when it does come out it's only going to be roughly equivilent of Jaguar and and what we have now is far superior.

Wow, I think this is really interesting but i don't agree with you. I think the wider screen is the best option, I don't know why... You say you read from your iPad while it's in the same orientation of a page... I NEVER do that, I much prefer the wide orientation... So I guess it's comes down to some kind of unconscious preference... And maybe it's the same thing that make me comfortable on a 11" macbook air...
I'm a big fan of the Reader function in the Mac OS X Safari. Do you use that? When it's not available, I usually try to zoom-in to simulate it. But I also spend a significant amount of time reading web pages in landscape mode on a 800x480, 3.5 inch screen. Conversely, I read books in portrait. Go figure.

It's because it uses server CPUs, all of which, except for the bone-stock model will outperform the iMac i7. They are considerably more expensive, and are required for dual CPU systems. They also use far better GPUs, have expandability, etc.
I understand the i7 vs Xeon argument for the single CPU systems, however, a pro buying a workstation will be expecting a workstation-grade CPU, not a consumer model.
Go check out workstations from Dell or HP. They are more expensive than the Mac Pro, believe it or not.
