This is about as real of a concern as the people making all the noise about global warming. Sure there are issues here, but it really looks like the efforts of people associated with theses scares are more about self promotion and self enrichment than anything else.
Seriously? I think most scientists agree that global warming is a very real phenomena. Your comments sound kind of ignorant in light of that, especially since you bring up a highly politicized topic in this context. Any responses are bound to sound off topic/political/inappropriate. Perhaps you should spread your counterfactual views in the political forum where they belong.

I think they should add a "buy a new mac" button on the crash dialogue that takes you to the online apple store. Maybe even a splash page that says "Old mac crashing too much? Try one of these new babies!"
I'm glad your not in Apples marketing department. :p

Any news about iWork? Does Apple usually updates both iWork and iLife at the same time?
The only iLife app I am interested in is iPhoto, so much potential but with such serious performance issues...

As "engineers" (their words, not mine) I find it incredulous (ie. B.S.) that they are surprised that 2 MB file of pure ascii text was so large and retained so much information.
Think about that for a second. 2 megs of text.
I currently have a 50 page word file (which contains a ton of formatting) that comes in about 100K.

That's exactly what i got!!!
I tried the PhotoBooth trick and the noise stoped!!!!
Thx!
But i did not have that BEFORE the efi firmware update ....
to bad it returns once you quit PhotoBooth.
Can you post a link with the standard "remove battery" and do a "P-Ram-Reset" routine.

EDIT: I just realized the forum software now compresses images... that sucks.
I noticed that, too. It made mine all fuzzy. Less than ideal.

Ah....Damn....But Leopard will include iLife '07 right? I hope they also add iWork '07 as a freebie along with Leopard! I would love to start using iWork, but an imminent update is holding me back from my purchase.
IIRC, when the Tiger upgrade DVD came out, it didn't include iLife or iWork.

What I'm doing is I used QT Pro and did File/Export and save as a Quicktime Movie. This way, it saves the file as it downloads and I can watch it tonight without the lag and jerkiness.
If you get that to work, PutFile it or something....

I'm actually a bit interested in this. Mind posting a link? My brother's been wanting something like this, and I think I might get this for his birthday over a shuffle because he likes having a screen.

Let's see...
Netflix:
Dexter Season 3: Not Available
Weeds Season 6: Not Available
Nurse Jackie Season 1 & 2: Not Available
House MD - all 7 seasons: NOT available
Apple:
All of the above..Check.
So, in your example above, yes Apple costs more money. In my example above, you can't even get the content on Netflix.... So, for those who like to watch a bunch of old stuff, Netflix is great, and I certainly get my 10 bucks worth out of it, but sometimes people need more, and thank god Apple gives us that option, although I will admit, I'd rather give my business to Amazon where it's consistently cheaper then Apple for most of the content.
Sure, selection is not as robust as Apple (as providers make more there)...but Netflix is easily augmented by other services (Amazon/physical copy). Im not advocating omitting Apple totally...but folks would be done a disservice if Netflix went under their control...

I don't think it'll be a replacement.
iPod 1G-3G
iPod photo 4G
iPod video 5G/5.5G
iPod nano
iPod shuffle
iPod movie
The iPod's 6G, IMO, would have a real good WiFi solution and maybe a 100G HD, but I personally expect something like that later on.
The iPod movie (as I would call it) could be released sooner (hopefully to blow the Zune out of the water) and get a head start on touchscreen and true video.
of course iPod movie could do music and the iPod video already does video.
the next step is to integrate a camera and phone. I think the way to do the phone buttons is with touch screen. Maybe the phone and true video will be in one because of the touch-screen?
then again, who knows.
rumors are cool

I was in agreement with you until you started into the "over rumoured" camera phone integration crap...
Would you really want a touch screen phone?...I need tactile feedback...aka buttons.
also,
Hard drive in a phone...I don't think so
ipod movie player with flash memory storage...I don't think so (not in the next few years, at least).

What? Its by far one of the biggest games of the year in the games industry regardless of platform. PC news sites are covering it too, as would any platform specific news site when the most important games are being released.
Crazy.
1. He doesn't know that Portal 2 is a new game released for all the OS's/Xbox360/PS3.
2. Look at his post history; he is a foul mouth.
Ignore.

I'm a cingluar customer. My contract is up in January. If Apple does release a phone with T-Mobile, I'd switch. Not for the phone, but for Catherine Zeta-Jones. :p

I'm still rather new to to Macs, but is there precedent for releasing software like iLife later on in the MacWorld show? it's a few days isn't it? is it possible that it might be released later in the week?

they have had crowd sourced apps that do this in the app store. they were useless. and i'm not going to send data to the crowd database while i'm driving with my kids in the car. illegal and dangerous
Yeah, reading the app description is a little frightening about people reporting accidents and whatnot. But it also uses data regarding location and traffic without manual user input. I might try it out, price is right.

It's working great for me locally. Over WAN I cannot say: NO ports seem to be working (even ones I used last week for VNC) which is not EyeTV's fault. I think it's an issue with AT&T DSL. I hope they haven't started blocking something intentionally. I'll try again tomorrow in the hopes that it's fixed. (I can't even traceroute to my home.)
Yep--must have been an AT&T issue of some kind. All my ports are working again today, and I can confirm that EyeTV + no-ip.com works for TV-watching over WAN :) Too cool. One more reason to love my EyeTV. And my rabbit ears!
EDIT: I just HAD to open my yap... It doesn't work anymore (not even on LAN). Unable to connect. Nothing has changed since earlier when it was fine. Will try again tomorrow.
EDIT2: It came back when I downloaded a newer build--link near the end of this page: http://support.elgato.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=3651&nav=0,1,388&languageid=1&group=englishdefault
(Also check your OS X Firewall for EyeTV stuff set to Block. I had it set to Allow and yet it once went to Block on its own somehow.)
