Personally, there's not much wrong with it, it's just, there's not an iLife '07, and it's '07, so we'd like to see an iLife '07 for a number of reasons, partly because it's apparently time for it. I still find iLife '06 to be functional.

Plastic burns too. I don't see anyone worrying about their current plastic iPods catching on fire.

Maybe this'll fix my MacBook's wake-from-sleep" screen-flash problem.
...And hopefully the wake-from-hibernation bluetooth and mouse problems as well.
I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Google's greatest assests are their data-collection/data-mining libraries. The rest of it is crap (scientific term!).
Actually, their stock isn't too bad... $426.06/share  Apple was only at $79/share

Am I the only one that wants iWork 07'? My trial ran out on 06 and I need it for school, but don't want to get 06 and have 07 come out a few days later.
You could try Openoffice.org for Mac. It's basically very like Microsoft Office only Openoffice.org is free.

I'm still under NDA, so I can't tell you as much as I would like about what was NOT talked about at the SuperMeet, but I will quote one Apple rep that I spoke with after the event: "This is only the first look, wait until we can share the full announcement."
I heard what the execs were saying after the event. There is much more to come. And I can't wait!
P.S. Don't let the negative rumors get you too worried, yet. Those that know, can't say. Those that don't know, are just guessing and enjoy making you nervous. We will all know more soon.

perhaps down the line for the US market, for the european market a NA I4 2.4 liter engine with 173hp is just going to gather dust in the showrooms
Hyundai will never consider the 2.4-liter I-4 engine for the European market for one reason: many European countries impose an excise tax based on engine displacement, and 2.4 liters will get hit with a pretty steep excise tax for European sales. That's why the Honda Accords sold in Europe use a 2.0-liter petrol engine, not the K24 2.4-liter engine found on US-market Accords.
A more likely solution for European sales--especially with the availability of higher-octane petrol there--would be a turbocharged version of the 1.6-liter GDI engine, which would bump the horsepower to around 175-180 bhp.

In a way this makes the iPhone cheaper, seeing how I will save on a GPS device . Although right now iPhones tell me to drive into buildings in my city, so a revamp of the whole thing is always good.

You must embrace pain to full understand it.
Once you understand it, you can control it and find its pleasure.
The human body is awesome.
I have heard that many described many times by professional athletes. That in order to succeed they must learn to work through the pain. From what I have heard they are also given local steroids and pain medications that would certainly.
I'm sure that with anything else some could find pleasure from pain.

The corporate savages also employ 50,000 people and have enabled 100s of app developers use their forum to create new ideas that employ more people. Same goes for Foxconn, who without Apple's contract, would not have the resources to hire the thousands of Chinese people to give them even the meager salaries they do receive.
Shame it's so cost prohibitive to hire people in America to do the job. Could have avoided the whole situation.
..and as a result of shipping heavy industry overseas, the U.S. is now bankrupt.

This is a great law and should be implemented all across Europe.
Good for France! These people need to assimilate into French culture, not the other way around.
Hopefully France keeps on enforcing this law.

August 17, 2006 Cupertino, CA: In a surprise press release late this afternoon Apple Computer announced it's purchase of Lions Gate Films. Without delay, former President Steven Beeks was removed from his position placed in shackles, stripped to his boxer shorts and displayed prominently of the official "Apple Ridicule Platform" located conveniently in the parking lot at 1 Infinite Loop. Steve Jobs was unavailable for comment, but was seen laughing, choking down a small bowl of low calorie pescaterian chowder.

You just had to bring up the Rugby World Cup, didn't you? We were robbed! Robbed, I tell you!!
And you've been told to turn your radio off? Call him un-English. That's an Australian thing that politicians use whenever people don't agree with them "To disagree would be un-Australian". Our Prime Minister is the top candidate of this phrase.
And Warne is doing very well but I still think he is a wanker.
It is very un-english. I've shut the door so he can't hear it ;).
Re rugby world cup: C'mon - we have to win sometimes! My girlfriend is from Bris-Vegas, so internationals are always good for some banter. Can't be too rude though, I'm heading out there at Christmas and she may leave me in the bush somewhere....
Currently 46/0.

"Go after AT&T, they make your phone unusable as a phone."
I don't know where you people live, but I hear all the time from people on here acting like At&t is SO HORRIBLE. I live in the midwest and I never have any problems with At&t...full service everywhere I go and rarely any dropped calls. I've had them all, Verizon (which completely blows), sprint, nextel etc.... At&t has the best service...

I was just going to say the EXACT same thing! You said it perfectly, whenpaulsparks! That's right, I don't want to see Steve Jobs demo some new Spotlight/Sherlock. I want to see revolutionary, fricken awsome, Vista-crushing, earth shaking features, a totally revamped and polished GUI, Enterprise features, etc. Come on Apple! Don't dissapoint me!I doubt there will be a silver bullet feature that will blow away vista, but overall improvements will take OS X to the next level.

Apparently so. On a side note, a carbon fiber or rubbarized back would have been better for the ipad. Either lighter or more durable (shows less wear).

I have used my MBP multiple times to give presentations in my high school. The first time I did it, one IT "expert" did have a problem with it. I basically confronted him on it (this was in front of the Principal, who was attending the presentation) and told him straight out that he was wrong. His argument was the typical, "Macs aren't Windows, they can't be used in a network because they are insecure" argument. I told him he was wrong. And he stopped.

OS X Server unlimited client is quite expensive by itself, add that to a MacPro and see what the price diff for xserve is. How much is server 2003 unlimited these days, still pretty pricy if I understand correctly and that does not come with your backyard barebones.
Also there was something about lights out management (which I know nothing about) added to the cost of the dell in the WWDC comarison.
In other words hardware is one thing but the big picture needs to be looked at more carefully.
Also 1/5 of the cost? I'd like to see some figures. I can't even get 1 xeon for that let alone 2.
