Bummer on the GPU. The 7800 is probably worthless anyways :p
Oh and I did manage to get all 4 clients running the the G5. Trying to figure out the PPD on that?
glad you got the 4 clients working. i think there are a few programs like fahmon that might be able to tell you your PPD. but i'm not sure since that's ppc

What do Mac users do when the Windows Virus of the Month strikes the office?
They keep working...
True. You have a very good point I don't argue against. Windows takes much more maintenance. However, the security for a small business is not that hard to control for admins. Antivirus applications combined with strict security policies are very effective. Clients don't have admin rights, and that helps prevent dangerous applications from being installed.
But going to the Mac simply to lower the threat of viruses is still not the most efficient choice in our business. That is my point, and a point most business use in making purchasing decisions. They cost savings of a better secuered OS (OS X) is not worth losing some core applications.

Now that I think about it, the post about the HD content taking up so much room is right on. I don't thing 120GB will be enough for all my HD episodes of jericho and enterprise. Much less all my other stuff thats on there.
You haven't heard about the upcoming proprietary 360 External 3.5" 750 GB HD from Microsoft? What's the price you ask? Well, if you have to ask maybe you should start looking into refinancing your house soon. Or get a second job. :D

Move is also pricey, but has the slight advantage of being a scalable system.
Not really scalable. You need a game, you need the camera + move controller. And to be honest you need the nunchuck if you want to play something like resi-evil as it's impossible to do so holding standard controller in one hand.
Kinect also feels more of a quality product compared to my glowing dildo controller and it'sy plastic camera. The way move is motorised and moves itself to get you in shot - the bulk and weight of the device actually do scream of genuine quality. I was taken back by it as I was expecting Toy and got high tech gadget.
But you are right it's down to games. Best game on Move for me is Tumble (and because it's 3D on top of move enabled means it really feels different even if the premise is so simple)...
At least from my own experience I can say Kinect launch games are certainly more tailored to the device initially, but for me the only game I can see myself playing beyond parties is Dance Central and that's mostly to keep fit.
I can't see any hardcore games for it - but you never know.

I just bought a Lexar jump drive for $14 yesterday, and it fits on my keys. ;)
I'll be getting one of these new shuffles as soon as I can. Awesome little player perfect for running and school and "risky" situations where you don't want to risk even a nano sized player.

Quick questions - How does folding with multiple GPU in a rig work? Do you use one GPU client and all the GPUs fold that one WU faster or do you use a GPU client for each card?

Only tangentially related to our different cultures, but this does fit better here than anywhere else.
I was driving somewhere the other day, and I heard this in a radio commercial:
Do ugly brown spots on your hands feel like the end of the world?I got very dark. And thought, "No, ugly brown spots on your hands do not feel like the end of the world. You know what feels like the end of the world?
"An earthquake followed by a tsunami followed by a nuclear meltdown. That's what feels like the end of the world!"
****in' morons.

geekbench score for the 2.3 dual core is 2082
geekbench score for the 2.5 quad is 3304
and you can get a quad , but you need to make one thing absolute sure , that it does not come with the delphi pumps , apple did change the supplier basically right at the end before discontinuing the G5 , the later ones are i think from panasonic , but that needs confirmation and those are much more reliable , still did not help them ,despite apple still sold quiet a few to its victims aeh customers who believed apple a couple month earlier, as apple told everybody how superior the G5 is and then going intel

Increased marketshare is good, up to a point. Also, if world marketshare is staying the same, but the US is increasing, somewhere in the world apple is becoming less popular.
Yup I agree, I think more Windows users are actually switching to Linux now and some Apple users too, but I don't know for sure maybe someone canfind a recent survey taken with that.

It's playing well for me now, after a lot of trouble yesterday even as late as 1am PST. So either the demand is less now or they've cranked up the power or both. Nice to finally see it.

I disagree. I like how its seperate. What could you possibly need to sync between Mail and iCal anyways..... Event invties... ohh wait that works. I believe its better to have 3 seperate programs instead of entourage... that way you can be more efficient with your use. Like for instance, when I use my laptop in class I close Mail... cause I don't have Internet, but I still need iCal. So its perfect. I mean the only downside is that you have to click to open two apps. I don't see anything else. WHat can you integrate between the two other than contacts which is its own program.
I think its perfect how it is. I would love to see new features, new features are always great; I just can't think of any. Ohh I know one. Making things in iCal have links to documents so if a To-Do is to like finish a project.. u can link to the files so its all there, due date, importance, notes, location of files. And maybe they could work on the calendars (categories). Smart calendars would be nice. And more flexibility with calendars. I don't really see any other problems. I'm sure there are I'm just not that good at looking.
I have to disagree. In this case, integration is not a big deal. But in an office environment, having to switch between programs in order to take care of emails, contacts, appointments, and tasks is a big time waster. Yes, iCal has the event thingy and tasks but the fact remains that its not tightly coordinated like Outlook. I really don't understand why thye just don't put iCal in with Mail.

Can't believe MacRumors wrote a story on this. Werenn't the 2 or 3 threads on it enough?
I agree. MacRumors should delete this video. This is inhumane treatment of an inanimate Apple object, and should be punishable under federal law!
I don't get you guys. If holywood destroys lots of cars and buildings and all kinds of stuff to make movies, just to entertain people it's ok... but if somebody destroy an iPad for the same reason (entertainment) than it's an horrible example of decadence and wastefulness...
But this is Apple we're talking about! The money that went into that iPad literally could have fed 250 starving children. But instead, it went into some guys blender. Talk about putting money down the drain!

Hardly a problem. You can get a new shuffle and a 1 gig USB jump drive for alot less then the old 1 gig shuffle cost.
Or just pick up a refurb shuffle from the online Apple Store. They still gottem. The even have iPod minis there still so I'm sure the shuffle will be available as a refurb item for some time to come.

I'd call it lazy instead of easier. They could easily detect the current version installed and download the approriate patch, or fall back to the whole OS if it's not the most recent update.
yeah man. apple has the laziest programmers in the industry. you nailed it.
