Oh man, this just get's more and more confusing.
Now The Register is claiming there'll be Merom's not only in the MacBook Pro, but in the MacBook too in September:
Apple's MacBook to get an early Merom upgrade? (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/08/11/apple_macbook_to_get_merom/)Perfect. That works for me 'cause if Apple doesn't present a redesigned MBP with an easy access HD Bay, I'm definitely going C2D MacBook. Already "bought" a pair of 2.5" external USB 2 cases today - for FREE after rebate - in anticipation of removing the stock drive and replacing it with a Seagate 160. :)

I want to see some unpacking pics of that 24inch model compared with the 20in. Soon enough I suppose.

I. Hate. Greenpeace. I've wasted seconds of my life 'listening' to them and its all rubbish.

Exactly. Just a bunch of hippies with their own underlying political agendas. FWIW, Apple is no more or less green than any other PC company... Take that as you will, but considering the majority of their production/manufacturing operations are done in and by many of the same companies that PC makers such as HP, Dell, IBM, etc.. use, it's hard to point the finger at one company.

Remember that these are not "NEW" iPods, Steve said they were just enhancing them so all the people that are upset with the new features and say "they could have updated it anytime" need to realize that its just a small EHANCEMENT nothing new like the nano's. Here's a link to a pic i took that proofs that the letters appear as of 1.2. iv been on so many forms since yesterdays new that I'm not sure if it was this one but someone said that this wasn't part of 1.2 update.

An .exe is an executable, not an application. Some people may have called them applications, but not MS. Never. Until now.
Again, you are wrong.

I've heard about clovertown coming all along and have put off buying a Mac Pro. I'd much rather have 8 cores then 4 for the work I do.Of course almost everyone here knows I'm with you. I was surprised that the Mac Pro would require such expensive RAM which really puts me off. So I'm hoping that the popularity of Mac Pro RAM will drive down RAM cost to us by the time the Clovertown Mac Pro ships.
BTW it's NOT Cloverton. It's ClovertownIf you are looking for that, the most likely timeframe will be during the release of Leopard as it will release those 4 or 8 cores to do their thing. :DExactly my thinking as well.

$10 !!??? It's already at $70. It won't go up much more. But good luck, and I hope it does.
I bought at $50 and it went up to $80+ in only a few months. It could happen....

Why assume people want to game on the go ? I don't game on the go with my MBA, I usually use it to VPN to work on the go or to do some hobby programming. However, when home, I plug it into my external monitor and I game there. Why wouldn't people with 11" do the same ? Play some WoW/StarCraft/Civilization/Portal/Whatever at home when "docked", unplug and take the laptop on the Go for other tasks they need to do away from home ?If you read my post more carefully you'll understand I was referring to the people who play games on the 11". As far as I'm concerned, working on a laptop with an external monitor plugged in is an exception (rare) and not something common.
Are you guys so short sighted you can't see a lot of us don't have 2 computers ? What's the use when the MBA is capable of everything ?Perhaps you mean it is capable of everything you need it to do. I used to have a laptop as a single computer at my home. It resembled a Christmas tree pretty much - it had an USB optical mouse, a printer, external speakers, a Yamaha keyboard, card reader and power cord plugged in. I was always plugging and unplugging cables whenever I wanted to move it to another place. Thank goodness I did not come to the idea to attach an external monitor to it.

Also, thanks for the Apple environment link. Didn't know about the 10% discount on iPods when turning in an old one. With no educational discounts on iPods anymore, that's a pretty decent deal.
Well, you can get a better deal by just selling an old one on ebay. But if you have an old one that doesn't work, there ya go.

Really? Honestly, this is the most uninteresting Apple product since the Performa series in my opinion. Yawn. Not compelling. The SJ RDF will probably help my opinion, but still. My phone works. Thats all I need. (gah, am I getting old?!?!)

you mean macdonalds?
No one refers to McDonald's as Burger Store. Their brand name is so strong that people actually say McDonald's because that logo and name is pretty much seared into everyone head.

When Windows starts to come close to SL in terms of ease of use and functionality let me know ;)
when closing an application in OS X is as easy as clicking an X in the top right corner let me know
even though iOS is a lot better than android some of the over simplicity is annoying on the iphone

Unless you decide to work for Google (which from your comment, I presume your aren't), or if you get famous, then I'd say that the chance that anyone at Google would decide to look at any data they collected about you is abysmal. This goes for any information Apple collects too. Obviously, there's a risqu for security breaches, but the chance that your info then would be accessed or used is also rather small.
Not that it's not a problem.
This is different. The information is made accessible to people around you. So, while an iPhone owner is away from the house, someone else, who will be a lot more interested in him or her, can access the log in their backup.
If your behavior is risqu then the risk of a security breach is very important. :)

When do you think C2D will be in MBPs? On the 5th? 12th?
They will be announced and shipping by the 12th. Based on Intel's new pricing, there's no reason to keep Core chips in any of Apple' computers, it will be Core2 across the board.
I too hope there is an user removable HD.
Given that the MB has this, it's a given that the revised MBPs will have it.
What are the odds that they will give us a 12'' option?
I'll leave that one to Multimedia.

Yes. Time for a new change in the design. I am a small majority who really hate the current design due to high prices in repairs. Carbon fiber would be a good addition instead of the aluminium :apple:

Wow, can't believe some of the posts on here!
Its a limited edition iPod and by buying it, it looks like a donation will be made to a charitable organisation set up by people who are trying to make a difference, which wants to help people less fortunate than us. Where's the problem?
