i dont think there will be near the hype of last year, looking at the posts for dallas on the last iphone launch there were tons of posts.
Yeah I agree, I'm thinking about a drive by at 4 or 5 am and maybe being in line by around 5:30 or 6.

Who's going to buy this 'technology'?
My point is, that if for example Microsoft or Napster wanted Fairplay hacked, they'd have paid someone to do it long ago. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they'd love to sell iPod compatible tracks, but not by the back door.

I was at work, at UNC-Charlotte. There was no access to TV, and the Internet was down, so I got very little information. When I eventually figured out what had happened, I called my wife and we figured out what we would do with the kids. I was there all day and had night classes, so I never saw any of the live footage of the event. My wife picked up the kids after school and took them to a prayer service at their church. I got home at about 10 p.m., by that time my wife didn't really want to watch any more TV, so I never really shared in the live television experience the rest of the world had. Of course, I've since read a lot about it on the Web and have since seen some of the video, but I don't think I had quite the same experience most people did. The biggest concern I had was how to explain what had happened to my kids, who were age 7 and 8 at the time.

You can easily tell when whoever submits [E] to SpyMac you know either it's been given a Photoshop job, or someone has too much time on their hands, assuming the grease on their hands is time. :p
Yet some of us still wonder what's up with iPhone.org and/or MacMate. If anyone ever gets to talk with d'man (in some cases, again), ask him about this, and the forums. :p :D

1.) Is it possible to search Google from the address bar in Safari like how it is in Chrome? If so, how?
I don't think so. The google search is right next to the address bar. I personally like this better since it retains the last search entry even if you go to a different address.
2.) Is it possible to remove the Google search search bar on the top right of Safari? If so, how?
Yes, goto menu View -> Customize toolbar and make things the way you want.
3.) What are Keychains?
Keychains are a Mac OS X native mechanism for storing passwords. Goto /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access to view and modify your stored passwords.
4.) Is it possible to make the tabs in safari have a bigger "x" so that they're easier to close? If so, how?
Not that I know of.
5.) Is it possible to move the new tab button right next to the last currently open tab? If so, how?
You can click on a tab title and drag and move it anywhere in the tab bar. Is that what you are asking?

The cell companies lobbied HARD to not allow you to keep your number when you switch. The state legislature here (Calif) buckled 3 times.
You can thank "the government" for allowing you to keep your number when you switch. You can also thank "the government" for demanding that the companies improve their 911 protocols. People were sometimes
waiting 20 minutes to get connected. Also, blame "the government"
for requiring that the companies allow you a grace period to return your phone. They actually had to create a bill called "the cell phone bill of rights"
These actions did not create a huge costly layer of bureaucracy. Why do people think that corporations should be allowed to abuse people unhindered? After-all the market was/is not providing that many real choices. It's a cartel.
Bye the way, "the government" (in theory) is you.
We are lucky that sometimes government works for us. The state government here bowed to the mobile phone companies when municipalities wanted to enact laws banning using a phone while driving. They banned anyone but the state being able to create any laws concerning mobile phones.
Of course, I wouldn't want the government to have their own company--that would be haphazard and bizarre, though I don't think anyone would buy service from them, suspecting wire(less) tapping on all of their phones.

iPhone to "borrow" from Disney Mobile's (http://disneymobile.go.com/) GPS Enabled Family Locator(TM)
http://www.globalhempstore.com/images/disney-mobile-family-locator.jpg
The Disney Mobile phone is a family-oriented phone service. Apple's upcoming "iPhone" will of course be marketing to the masses. However, some features will most likely be "borrowed" from Disney Mobile and of course built-upon / improved, such as Family Locator(TM).
After viewing the following, you should notice a that Apple's iChat and iPhone will be nearly one and the same! So, rather than locate your kids, your kids become your Buddy List. The Buddy List will be organized into groups: family, work, friends, etc. In addition, Apple could fairly easily implement more into the mapping feature, such as nearby Apple stores, Starbucks, McDonalds, etc.
In additon, Disney Mobile has downloadable extras such as:
- Ringtones
- Images
- Themes
- Games -- think new iPod Games!
- Movies.com Movie Finder: $2.99/mo subscription service with movie info, times, locate theater, etc... all or which could be integrated with mapping service to actually locate the closest theater.. heck, even someday purchase tickets via your mobile phone or even make reservations at restaurants such as Chili's with your iPhone!
From Disney Mobile Web site:
Family Locator allows you to locate your kid's phone with GPS technology and display a map of the location.
First Select Menu
Then, select Family Center
Then press OK
Scroll to Family Locator
Then press OK
The first you you use the service, you'll be required to enter your PIN, then agree to the terms of service...
Select the kid's phone you wish to locate
Enter your PIN
Press OK
The application begins to search... the following results are displayed:
Joey is near:
1231 Any Streer
Los Angeles, CA
- Accuracy 10 yards
After receiving an address, you can access an area map to get a better view of the location of your child's phone.
From the location page... select Map.
An area map will appear with a shaded circle indicating the reported location and accuracy range.
Use the NAV KEY to view surrounding area.
Then you can zoom in and out... by pressing ZOOM.
Select a different zoom level by using the NAV KEY
This feature is also available on the web which allows you to locate your kid's phone with GPS technology and display a map right from your computer without using your phone.
Google Maps are already available for mobile phone: Just visit www.google.com/gmm (http://www.google.com/gmm) on your mobile or desktop web browser.

Hi everyone,
I am new here. I tried to google for an answer to my prob but didn't manage to find one so I hope I will be able to get some advice by posting here.
Background:-
I previously owned a JB'ed iPad1 IOS 4.3.1. A few days ago, because of a usb connectivity prob, I sent it in under the wrty. Today I was given a replacement iPad1. The prob is, for some reason, it came with the out-dated IOS 3.2 which must have been pre-activated by the service centre.
My Issue:-
Will I be able to restore from my backup such that my new iPad will be a mirror image (with exceptions for the JB) of my old iPad with IOS 4.3.1? I understand that any JB apps will disappear and am ok with that
Or will I be forced to update the IOS to 4.3.2 (whch is not desirable since there is no JB for this ver yet)?
Or should I update the IOS on my new iPad to 4.3.1 first (I have the IPSW) and then do the restoration from the backup?
Hope to get some advice from anyone. Many thanks in advance.

Hi all, hope there's some antique mac guru's around here, anyway have a motorola starmax 3000/180 that's had the memory maxed (160mb) sonnett G3 in the L2 slot, running OS 9, the modem port died what i want to do is install a PCI modem but have been unable to find any info on this either compatible models or drivers i realize this is an antique suitable for a doorstop but here in Bugtussle where i live 56k is as good as it gets and this unit has been more reliable than a trusty dog for 5+ years i know i can use the printer port for another external modem but i'd really rather have an internal one if possible
Hey a friend of mine has one of those Starmax things and needs to get rid of it. Also needs me to take the information off the hard drive, but either the monitor is not plugged in right or doesn't work. I'm at a loss as to how to get something to plug into it. What would you suggest? And I'm sure it would be yours for shipping if you would walk me through things. It has been sitting for years, but does power up.

It is a bit funny they lumped iOS and Android. That would be like lumping Sony and Nintendo together (regardless of one being bigger than the other). Analysts always find a way to make completely arbitrary groupings (e.g. the iPad is never included in iOS numbers yet is always lumped in with a "tablets" category which doesn't distinguish between OS let alone who makes them).
I would love to have more games with depth for the iOS but the only ones available are ports of really old computer games like Riven. It would be nice if we got some original content designed for touch that had depth (the two seem to be mutually exclusive at the moment).
As far as Nintendo porting, that would be a horrible decision for them. They might as well sell themselves to Sega. Nintendo's situation is worsened by the 3DS kind of missing the point and they don't need to make it even worse by losing their exclusives. (Personally, the 3DS completely lost me. I bought the original DS and DS lite but I see no reason to get a 3DS because they just tacked optional 3D on). Sony's NGP might interest me if they ever get their store/update junk sorted out. They seem to have ADHD.

Why not just get a Bluray firewire external combo-drive, or superdrive? That way you can add Bluray capabilities to your mac. Just a thought.

Wanting to upgrade my stock 5400 rpm hd in a 2010 mac mini to a SSD. Thinking of OWC mercury extreme pro 60 GB. Will only use for boot/apps. The thing I am curious about is I play steam games(L4D 1 and 2), and am always downloading extra addon campaigns for these games. Would 60 GB be enough for this?

So I am using redsn0w and I checked install Cydia and change my baseband to iPad for the unlock but as I follow the directions on iClarified, I get to holding down the home button and then it says "fetching iPad firmware" and then it ends. Any idea why that is?
